Photo Safari: Sculptures in Berlin

In Berlin the main waterway is the river Spree. Between 1845 and 1850 the Landwehrkanal, going through Charlottenburg, Tiergarten and Kreuzberg was built. From the Waterloo Bridge at Kreuzberg I shot this photo and hope you agree that the nature itself is a beautiful sculpture.The most known sculpture bust be Brandenburger Tor, the momumental entry to the boulevard Unter den Linden. On top of the gate is the Quadriga, the chariot drawn by four horses driven by Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. As in 1793, when it was originally installed, the Quadriga faces east.
The monumental ruins of Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche at the top of K`damm has been a sculpture sins the Allied forces bombed the city at the end of 2nd world war.
and Siegesseule from 1864 with Golden Lizzy on the top, makes a hop on hop off tour mandatory.
In the city part Mitte, we may find the Museum of Communication, another beautiful sculptural building.
The Bismark Memorial close to Grosser Stern is a typical "classic" sculpture
and the same is the statue of Frederick II of Prussia at Unter den Linden.
If you are tired of old fashion you may also find hundreds of "modern" sculptures in Berlin. This one is in Pcrenzlauer Alle, east of Alexander Platz, and he is certainly watching his steps in the sky.
