Odd Shots and Bridging Gaps

Just coming home from Portugal, the Coast of Algarve, Evora and Lisbon including Sintra and Cascais / Estoril with almost 300 photos copied and given titles in my iPhoto Library. Will present some of them in My Gallery after returning from this week´s visit to Hospital and Wales.
However, it is Monday and time for Odd Shot. This monday´s motive is from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sintra, (40 min west from Lisbon.) No comments needed by me, but you are welcome to evaluate this photo and see more Odd Shots at Katneys site.
On the First monday of the month I also have to present "Broer som Binder" managed by RuneE .
Of course Bridges from Lisbon are my choices on the May Monday, and I start with the Free Waters' Aqueduct from 1732. The aqueduct and its branches are total 58,135 meters in length. The next Lisbon Bridge is 25th April Bridge or Lisbon´s Golden Gate. The bridge is 2.278km long between its anchorages with the main span being 1.013km long, and was opened in 1966. The last Lisbon Bridge is Vasco da Gama Bridge. This magnificent structure was opened on 29 March 1998. It is an amazing 17.185km long and connects the north Lisbon suburb of Sacavém to the south bank of the Tagus near Montijo. The bridge includes viaducts of 12.345km, the rest of its length being approach roads. I had to use three shots to catch the length from north to south. For more information of the bridges, (and may be professional photos) go to The Luso Pages

Nydelig Arne.

Ha en rasende flott dag.

Impressing bridges, especially the last one, but I fell for the aqueduct - there is Bridge of life for you!

Wish I had been with You in Portugal, did You and Your wife flew or drive there?

I love the pictures, most of all the cloth-hanger (cliff-hanger? lol).

Thank You for commenting my thinking, and sorry You did not like the idea behind it, maybe next time? ;-))

The old aqueduct is my favourite of these bridges.

Many thanks for the information about the sculptures on my Oslo post at Ackworthborn - much appreciated and I've made a response there too.

The aqueduct is especially lovely -- the arches appeal to me.

A bridge that spans 17 kilometres? Oh my!

Love your Odd Shot, Arne! Hahaha. There used to be some Ontario communities that wouldn't allow people to hang their laundry outdoors. Isn't that a stupid idea? But the Ontario government just a few weeks ago has passed a law that says we CAN dry our laundry outdoors. I won't be hanging them out like in your Odd Shot, though.

Great series. I like all the photos, maybe the aqueduct best.

Nice job on bridges.

My bridge is built.
Come visit,
Troy

Thanks for the nice comment.
It looks like 4 ranges and each one is probably 10 miles. My guess to the far horizon is 40-50 miles. Maybe more, hard to estimate.

thanks,
troy

That's one excellent post, beautiful images, but I'm suspect because I live in Portugal, very well done.

What a great compilation of bridge photos Arne! My favourite is the first shot, Aqueduct. Well done as usual.

Enjoyed all and interested in how long that last one was that took 3 shots but favorite is the first.

Great ODD SHOT! I haven't seen those laundry lines in a long time. Nothing like fresh laudnry hung on the line but then I enjoy ironing also . . .

Laundry hanging out like that is something you don't often see any more.

I was in Lisbon in 1966. If the 25th April Bridge was not yet open at the Easter break, it was surely well near completion. I seem to remember it.

I wouldn't want to hang out that window to put out the wash! But it looks like the clothesline is used by many people in that building: it is securely and permanently installed.

I am fascinated by aqueducts, so I loved that photo.
