I have during this week presented some of the spectacular Austrian Alps.However, a trip to Austria without visiting some of the major cities in the country, would not be normal for an urban person. Our weekend trip to Vienna in April 2005 have previous been blog-posted, and during our holiday in 2003 we stayed one night in Kitzbuhel.
In 1999 we had our hotel at Zell am See, but with only 10.000 inhabitants the real urban lifestyle was difficult to find. It is almost like Bad Hofgastein where we stayed a week in 1989 for skiing.
Austria´s fourth largest city is Salzburg and well known as the birthplace of Mozart. The shopping street Getreidegasse, is extraordinary in the way that Salzburg has very strict rules regarding marketing signs. 
Even McDonald´s has to follow the rules with a small m in a wrought-iron guild sign hanging autside the establishment.
Shops in this street is a combination of fashion and specialized merchandise. We visited the street in June but both Christmas and Easter goods were on sale.
At the intro.photo you may see the Festung Hohensalzburg (used as scenery in the movie Sound of Music) the bank of the Salzach river and thedome of Salzburger CathedralI had to take photos inside the Cathedral and as in St. Peter´s Basilica (see the similarity) the altar paintings are beautiful.

Å ja, der har jeg vært. men det jeg husker best, er nok den parkeringgarasjen under byen!! Det er den trangeste og dypeste underjoridske parkeringsplassen jeg har opplevd. For en ekkel oplevelse..., og ja sklttet da, og "Sound of Music"... vakker by.

Nja, flott og flott utstyr. Nikon D70s er jo ikke så aller værst da. Det står heller mere på meg mtp det å lære å bruke utstyret. Og jeg er så heldig å ha en jobb der jeg er mye ute. Og da blir det til at en kommer over noen motiver etterhvert.

Så sant, så sant, det du skreiv i kommentaren hos meg. Det er heilt forferdeleg kor mange drap det har vore rundt omkring i det siste. Dessutan ser det ut som om det er dei som skulle stå ein nærast ein hatar mest... Det er berre tragisk... Håpar at slike tragediar aldri vil ramme "mitt" Heimdal...
Unnskuld, eg blanda saman to saker eg. Trudde det var der ein 21-åring hadde tatt livet av foreldra sine... Eg burde nok ha sjekka det før eg kommenterte.
I love my armchair visits of Austria since I probably will never have an opportunity to get there and my ancestors came from Austria, Hungary and Germany. Thank you for this arm chair tour.
