Sky Watch Friday

This Friday I will give you something of the diversity in my area of origin, Sunnmøre (South-Møre). The name "Møre" is old (Norse Mœrr), and it is probably derived from the word marr m 'ocean, sea'. The meaning is then 'coastal district'.
This costal district is clearly visible through my Sky Watch Friday photo today. The lighthouse at Ulla Fyr have goats (to the left) as inhabitants.

Out in the west there is only sea and horizon.I had other photos from the same area in this february post, and I have shown the Hip, hip, Hooray photo at least once before in 2007, but with Norwegian text. I think though that it represent both the Sky and the Fellowship meant behind SWF.
The bunch at lunch is my Old Friends (Gamlegjengen) and the place is at Anne Katharina and Asbjørn´s place at Skuløya, and of course are we having fresh shrimps with white wine in the summer sunshine.

Not far from this place, but to the southwest in the district you will find the fantastic Alps of Sunnmøre. Use about 6 minutes of your life and do some real SkyWatching through this Video from Sunnmørsalpene.

I am not one of the mountain climbers, but more than one of my friends at the photo above have been at the top of the next photo - Slogen. Legend has it that the summit was first climbed in 1870 by Jon Klokk. Later on that year it was climbed by the famous climber and alpine explorer William Cecil Slingsby. The latter wrote about the view from Slogen as "one of the proudest in Europe".
Many famous Norwegians have been on the top, including most notably Sonja, Queen of Norway. This photo is from east in Nordang Valley. For more Sky Watch Friday photos go to Toms site and join

Heisann!
